What is an Australian Study Visa?

An Australian student visa is a temporary visa that allows you to stay in Australia for the duration of your academic program.

The guidelines for the Australian Student Visa underwent a change, effective from July 1, 2016, with the introduction of the Simplified Student Visa Framework (SSVF).

According to the Department of Immigration and Border Protection, as of now, all international students intending to pursue studies in Australia must apply for a visa under Subclass 500. This change effectively consolidates the previous subclasses 571 through 576 into a single category.
